Pricing


To me all my work is priceless, after all I paint for pleasure and I paint subjects
and in mediums that appeal to me. Alas if one is to progress to the sale of their
finished work however a value must be attributed. Always the hardest part for me!

As I am sure you are aware, quality, original artwork can cost thousands, but then
I am neither a renowned modern artist, nor, an old master. I like therefore to be realistic, so I try not to overprice my work, merely to reflect the amount of time and effort expended.

By way of example, the picture shown below and entitled "Mother & Baby Elephant" is in acrylic on canvas and measures approximately 87cm x 68cm (framed). I have paid a great deal of attention to detail and in all it took me in the region of 3 months to complete in my spare time (or 60 hours or so in total).

In business I earn a good wage for what I do. This is not however a business and I think it unreasonable to charge anywhere near a full business rate. That said, I am not about to give away my finished work either, particularly when so much time and effort has been expended. My general rule of thumb is therefore to price my pictures @ c. £5.00 per hour (rounded up or down to the nearest £5 of the final price)

All prices quoted are however subject to negotiation within reason.
